NAME: Aso Takahiro
AGE: 16 Years Old
GENDER: Male
QUIRK NAME: SMOLDER
QUIRK CLASSIFICATION: TRANSFORMATION
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Smolder is the composite quirk from merging his father's ash and mother's magma quirk but draws on a basic of fire quirks for how it works: at its base level, it allows Takahiro to transform parts of or all of his body into heated earth. Its temperature - like many flame quirks - draws from using one's body storage of water for regulation; dehydration while under the effects of smolder will begin burning the user's true body. Conversely the cooler they become using the quirk, the harder their body becomes as it chills and cools into hardening stone. To put it more simply: the hotter the body gets, more of it will turn into embers and begin releasing heated ash, while the colder it gets will make him harden and turn toward stone. While his quirk is very showy, it is largely a temperature quirk rooted in the process of magma or lava smoldering, with a byproduct of producing ash whenever it gets heated.
QUIRK POWER LIMIT: Due to the transformation-aspect of his quirk, Takahiro's power limit can vary but largely relates to either becoming too cold or burning too hot. When he becomes too cold, his body hardens into solid earth and will leave him stuck in a paralyzed state affixed inside a frozen, ashen shell. If he burns too hot, he will dehydrate himself; this follows basic human dehydration alongside burning his body around wherever the heat is hottest on his form. Depending on what the temperature is around him and how hot he burns, he can use his quirk consistently in a full-on battle for half an hour before beginning to reach the end of his body's limits.

FLAW: Takahiro - although he doesn't believe it - cannot swim. This is thanks to his mother's quirk, which made his body naturally sink when in water.
APPEARANCE: The son of a foreigner-Japanese relationship, Takahiro stands around 6'0" with olive-tone skin and a head of thick, shoulder-length blonde hair. The ends of his hair shift to orange or red, splashed across the blonde like a burst bubble of lava. He keeps his hair parted with the parting hair drawn back and tucked behind his ears, letting everyone see his fiery red eyes. His body is fairly athletically toned but slim in the shoulders and waist, making him appear more like a runner or gymnast; Takahiro isn't packed with strong muscles but effective ones. Aside from his strange hair and eyes, his body lacks any distinctive traits one might expect from quirk users and lacks any additional birth-marking entirely.
His outfits are either his uniform, his costume, or his casual clothes: a short-sleeved white tee and black pants, worn with a pair of sandals. Whether or not he is in uniform or out of class, he can always be seen sporting three black bracelets around his right wrist, each one thin and linked with a smaller pair of miniature chains down the sides.
His costume's general appearance is straightforward - a red bodysuit-like coverall. The material is thin and loose, for ease of wear and to allow both ash and heat to flow freely. It lacks any boots or gloves. Additionally, it can be unzipped down the middle all the way to the waist to be split wider to help remove it or to expose even more of his body for attacking.
BACKGROUND: Hailing from a small family, Takahiro's parents always seemed more interesting than he did: his father was a hero from Hokkaido who married a girl he met online from the United States. She eventually crossed the seas to teach English and when she did, the two of them got married. But rather than stay there, they wanted a good future for their child and moved to Musutafu's outskirts. Their more rinky-dink home prompted a simple family life and Takahiro's mother took to teaching at a smaller middle school. They had a total of three children, with Takahiro being the first.
His early childhood had Takahiro being the traditional big brother - he always protected his brother and sister from harm's way even before his quirk had begun manifesting; it came in small bursts that had never given his parents much to go on. As kids with early-manifesting quirks began pushing him, however, Takahiro one day transformed himself hot when someone tried grabbing him. He accidentally burned the other child and immediately caused trouble for the Aso household. His mother was fired and his father was forced to resume working even harder as a hero, leaving Takahiro with little of his father to actively guide him. His siblings looked to him for guidance and saw him starting to get into petty fights and arguing with their mother, using his powerful quirk at times to try and speak down on others. However, Takahiro's mother put up with none of it and her quirk control let her keep him reigned in for the large part.
But around the time he was ten years old, the young ruffian had been running around in summer and getting ready to pick on others. Without his family there, he transformed to try and look tough - but instead of looking tough, he overheated. Fearing what would happen if he stayed too hot, he instinctively cooled down. At the age of ten years old, he turned into an ash-encased statue for the first time, sending all the kids running in a panic. Although he was conscious, he was trapped in the dark and could barely breathe. His mother came rushing along ten minutes into his first encasing but it wasn't until they had taken him to the hospital and doctors heated him up with special furnaces that he was able to break free five hours later. This instilled Takahiro with a hard fear of his power but his mother assured him that she too had suffered similar issues. Although she hadn't assumed his quirk more similar to hers compared to his father, Takahiro was explained that becoming cold would reflect a different side of his power. Hers had been hardening, while his toughened him up and caused his cooler ash to compact.
In spite of this, Takahiro didn't feel disheartened or afraid of his power - in fact, it reinforced that his quirk was great so long as he avoided the other end of its abilities. But that defiant spark inside him saw his mother's failure to conquer it as his way to beat her. Rather than give up, he turned his goal toward growing strong like his father. Whenever he came back from work, his father began helping prepare him with basic knowledge for attending a hero school. And as he grew older, smarter, and more experienced his mother steadily stopped scolding him. Instead, she used her education to explain and ensure his body would be perfect for using his quirk - she instructed him about physical wellness and on understanding the body's natural rate of hydration and dehydration. This bonding helped cool off their clashes before ultimately bringing him to where he was now - a student who had learned about his quirk the hard way and now wanted to further refine it. As the oldest Aso child, he eventually opted to try and arrange for a dorm at the school to cut down the massive commute he had. Although he planned to visit when he could, Takahiro made the leap and hoped to achieve greatness in his own way.

Depending on what the temperature is around him and how hot he burns, he can use his quirk consistently in a full-on battle for half an hour before beginning to reach the end of his body's limits.
QUIRK TECHNICAL LIMIT: Temperature and oxygen flow can greatly limit his Quirk; both his own and the surrounding area's temperature can drastically change his battle endurance or even outright limit him from using one end of his quirk's power range. Unlike a quirk with a proper cooling component, his body's transformed states directly affects his natural body temperature in a heavy ratio. Having a fever could completely prevent him from burning hotter, for example. Specifically, this means that even if he swaps to cooling after raising his body temperature, he will continue dehydrating. The only way to drop his temperature is to end his transformation, where he naturally cools down over time.
While oxygen isn't needed for his quirk to regulate his heat or ash, oxygen can determine if it manifests anything like combustion in an object. An oxygen-rich environment will make any transformed part of his body burn hotter; walking into an oxygen-enriched room and causing an explosion is very possible. Simultaneously, oxygen-deprived areas will make his flames weaker and stifle his ability to burn hotter.
QUIRK BARRIER (Students ONLY): Fear of his colder powers. Although able to manifest a more unique spin of Smolder when he cools off, accidentally going too cold in the past and being paralyzed within ash encasings when he was younger left him mentally scarred of chilling out. This almost entirely limits him to using the heated spectrum of his quirk and will make him avoid any situation that might call on him needing to chill down. Further still, his quirk will become erratic when he's in a cold environment and drastically exhaust his body's natural water reserves. While oxygen isn't needed for his quirk to regulate his heat or ash, oxygen can determine if it manifests anything like combustion in an object. SUPER MOVE: HOT ZONE > Although not a direct attack, Takahiro will clutch his arms tight to his body and mega-heat himself. This will send his temperature sky-rocketing through the safe control and rapidly dehydrate him, yet cause immense heat to roar out from his body. It can cause combustion, heatstroke, and inflict severe burning to anyone unable to resist it in a large radius. However, due to its indiscriminate nature, it can also inflict damages around him.
COSTUME: WATER COOLING > On the inside of his costume, Takahiro has water-filled tubes running parallel to his body. This can help him control the specific heat he wants down to a degree merely by squeezing his thumbs between his middle and pointer fingers. Turning them outward increases the flow and can help him dim his heat while turning them inward slows the flow and increases it. This not only grants better control over his quirk's temperature but in a pinch can give him five minutes of extra water.
EXPERTISE: Wellness & Fitness Expertise, giving him a basic understanding of how the body hydrates, signs of dehydration, and overall maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It helps him stay in the best condition to support his quirk and to monitor it actively while aiding in caring for citizens and those who suffer from heatstroke, dehydration, and body problems. Additionally, while he's far from a peak athlete, this knowledge has kept him active enough to maintain an athletic edge over a small portion of heroes.FLAW: Takahiro - although he doesn't believe it - cannot swim.
