Although the details about his speaking at UA High hadn't been disclosed very well to him, there was one thing Ken did learn: his old friend hadn't been too keen on letting him enjoy his new role in the world of heroes. All the changes of the newer agencies and more trendy heroes had totally escaped him; just before coming here, he'd seen a trading card of his old self. Comparing him and Yellow Maki was like night and day, particularly due to his fashion-setting costume and youth. Seeing how far he had changed and all but his figure remaining similar was a wake-up call as to why it was hard to find anyone who even remotely recognized him. Yet his old licensed career and his newly licensed position as the Musutafu Branch of STANDFAST's sole Pro Hero was enough to get him a leg into the old school.
In particular, to its Rescue Operations training hall. An arena-like structure designed to simulate the various conditions a hero might have to rescue students from. Mechanically-rigged ships, exploding rock formations, and collapsible buildings alike were scattered into their own zones and sections for individual and team-based training. The entryway and central section of the facility was for administrating training and giving lectures... and today, it had desks and a podium. With a board just behind it, demonstrating tons of STANDFAST educational material like safety tips for seeking out heroes. All considered it was a very professional set-up and as Ken took his place at the podium, he almost felt like he was a teacher at the school that had shaped him.
Except for the fact he was merely a guest speaker that was under supervision and would - most likely - have a proper teacher potentially here to oversee his actions. Not mentioning the fact his massive height made the podium look puny, it also didn't help that he had to look at a section of graduate pictures that showed the same image of his own trading card. Except it was larger and in clear-cut high-definition, showcasing the much younger and hearing-capable Yellow Maki shattering debris to free civilians.
I wasn't even that well-known for rescue jobs. My quirk was never entirely situated for this. I mean, it was a thankless job back then... plus, I spent two years not even here. Do I really deserve to be up on a wall? To be here?
The man's heart - massive and only behind its mesh - thumped louder and more rapidly as his anxiety grew. Today, he had hoped to guide young heroes... but now, he was uncertain if this was going to turn into disaster or not. Most kids these days laughed at the idea a man wearing jeans and a jacket could actually be a professional hero. He was too poor to afford a costume, too old to be long-serving like younger up-and-comers, and didn't even have a podium for his size.
Today is going to be another one of these terrible, horrible days.
