Both of them passed. While most other students stayed away from the Alien, the little Kobold, Besuto, stuck by the fellow mutant like glue. The two became fast friends- Besuto looked up to Riley's power, while she was just happy to have a friend that understood her and wanted to hang out. He even learned her sign language to talk with her!
Riley never managed to have many friends, but the few she had as she pushed to her third year were all she could ask for. She continues to push herself to do the best she can in and outside of her schooling, but still finds herself longing for a sense of belonging. She strives for the day her appearance can instill hope instead of fear as a real hero. But she still has a lot of work to do first...

QUIRK DETAILS
QUIRK NAME: ALIEN
CLASSIFICATION: Mutation
DESCRIPTION: The Alien Quirk is a monstrous mutation that has permanently shifted Riley's body into an unruly, alien-esque monster. An average slash of her sharp tail or claws can cut through stone and scuff metal. Her claws can be used to climb, too, allowing Riley to grip onto most surfaces that she can normally reliably pierce with her claws, such as wood or concrete. In addition, her physicality is bolstered, allowing her to lift up to half of a ton with relative ease when in peak condition, her exoskeleton strengthens her defense to a similar degree. Over-exertion can cause this strength to diminish, though. The last notable effect is boosting her sense of hearing and smell is comparable to that of a dog.
QUIRK POWER LIMIT: Riley's body, as intimidating as it might look, has it's limits. Overworking her body can cause her to become fatigued and weak, similar to the exhaustion one might feel after a strenuous workout. She can last about half an hour of consistently using her abilities without a healthy break before succumbing to exhaustion. This duration can be extended if she is able to take some reasonable time to catch her breath or isn't putting in all of her effort, or shortened if she is using her Quirk to preform more extreme and draining feats.
QUIRK TECHNICAL LIMIT: Being a towering freak of nature, unsurprisingly, has its downsides. Thanks in part to her long spines, tail, and generally inhuman stature, even things like sitting down in a chair or fitting through a doorway can be hard for Riley. Sometimes it's hard to notice where her tail is swinging, and she might knock something- or someone- over by accident. However, the greatest drawback of her Quirk lies elsewhere. Her mutation has morphed her vocal chords to become permanently incapable of human language- she can only click, screech, and so on. She can sloppily write things out and has learned sign language to compensate. Alas, being unable to verbally communicate makes situations where she can't sit down to do either, such as in the midst of a fight, makes cooperating hard at times. Atop that, she requires thrice the physical exercise and twice as much food and protein as the average human to keep herself at peak performance. Neglecting these needs can make her lethargic and further prone to exhaustion.
QUIRK BARRIER: The scent of blood can stir her body's natural hunting instincts that she has long suppressed. A large gash alone can cause her to become more animalistic and snappy, though she maintains a degree of control. However, an entire body's worth of blood can send her into an uncontrolled bloodlust. She can be snapped out of this by removing the scent or being knocked out. Until Riley manages to learn to balance her instincts and train away the mental strain, she'll continue worrying about succumbing to it.
QUIRK FACTOR:
Power 3
Finesse 1
Stamina 1
SUPER MOVE: N/A > Riley is still training as a student, after all! If allowed, I'd like to develop her Super Move at a later date.
COSTUME: POWER HOOK > The armor around Riley's claws can detach and be used as a grappling hook, or fired with a button on her wrist! Another button can cause it to reel back in. The custom rope can hold her and about a hundred pounds in addition without snapping, and is thirty feet in length. The ropes are hooked to her costume, making it easy to swing and climb with less worry about her grip.
EXPERTISE: PHOTOGRAPHIC > Riley's most beloved hobby is photography. Aside from being able to take very pretty pictures and knowing a good deal about photo cameras, this has given her a keen eye for detail. Riley can focus and pick out small details in her environment with her attuned observational skills.
FLAW: SOFTHEARTED > Riley might look frightening, but her demeanor is anything but. She likes to take photos and volunteers at the local dog shelter, loves flowers and always is sure to bring home-baked desserts when hanging out with her few friends. She is a softie through and through, and hesitates to physically hurt people. While Riley has a strong sense of right and never hesitates to help someone in need, she is a kindhearted soul who finds it hard to truly wish pain on anyone, whether they be hero or villain.
APPEARANCE
Riley’s mutant quirk has permanently shifted her body to a monstrous form, standing at about 9'1" in height and weighing a little over three-hundred pounds. Her head is elongated and has no visible eyes, though she has a pair beneath the long “dome” on the top of her forehead. Sharp fangs aren’t the only terror in her mouth, as another set of jaws are paired on her extendable tongue! Two ridges of spikes run down her spine, and flexible arms and legs with massive claws are used for limbs, able to sink her nails into nearly anything to climb. A long, spiny tail, which is about twelve feet in length, finishes off her purple exoskeleton. Her casual clothes always vary from day to day, but usually sport a colorful and floral theme.
BACKGROUND
The day Riley's mother woke up to find a mutant, purple monstrosity sleeping soundly in her daughter's bed and cradling a stuffed bear, everything changed in her daughter's life. Right before her fourth birthday, Riley woke to find her long-awaited Quirk as an early present. She idolized heroes and long-awaited her chance to get a great Quirk of her own, but the child was only horrified as soon as she found herself unable to speak, and looked in the mirror to see that those yellow teeth and monstrous claws were her own.
Riley's family originates from a tiny, traditional village in Ireland. She had been the quiet, but friendly child in her preschool days- reserved, but always willing to help her much more extroverted classmates. However, when she returned with her new Quirk on full display, the young children ran and cried, fearful of the scary monster that stood in her place. Between her neglect in elementary school and her single mother's growing bills from the demanding needs Riley's Quirk demanded, they wound up in a tight spot. Thankfully her mother managed upon a job opportunity in Musutafu, as a social worker to help and diagnose children with newly developing Quirks. Hopefully Japan would be a nicer place...
Riley wasn't used to the bustling city at first. Yet in the streets, Riley could see dozens of people with boggling Quirks of her own, and the occasional Pro Hero darting down the streets to vanquish a villain. Seeing people like her gave her a sense of hope again. She got plenty of weird looks at her new school, but with newfound determination, Riley put her best foot forwards to give the best impression possible. From climbing up trees to save a cat to bringing in her own cupcakes for lunch, the scary monster's good deeds gradually became a close-knit friend to a select small few. Riley cried tears of joy when she was first asked to sit with someone else at lunch.
In the bustling city, Riley's exposure to Heroes peaked. She could see the distant silhouette of UA High every time she walked home from her old middle school, and there wasn't a day when a Pro Hero wasn't mentioned on the news. From the merch in tacky gift shops to movies and gossip, the idea was unavoidable. Riley always pushed herself to help those around her- and what better way to do that than to become her own Pro Hero someday?
After spending days trying to perfect her handwriting on her application, Riley soon wound up in the entry exam for the prestigious U.A High School. Even in the exam, it felt like she was back to square one- her friends from her middle school weren't here, and all the new faces were back to giving her strange looks. But with her Quirk's power, she managed to push through and handle the exam's robotic oppositon. On the way, she wound up helping a smaller, much feebler teen with a lizard-like Quirk pass as well.
