The alleyways of Musutafu were so dark and dreary at night, but they were the closest thing to a "home" that Sya's had in years, and tonight was no different. Thanks to an impromptu power outage at a nearby convenience store, Sya was able to get away with quite the haul. After all, no power means no security cameras, and everyone inside the store was in too much of a panic to notice that a few bento boxes were missing. Ironically, she did manage to scrounge up enough money through various "technically legal" odd jobs to actually be able to pay for some food for once, but an opportunity like this didn't come very often. She was hungry, and not having to spend what little money she had now would mean having more to spend later. Besides, it's not like she caused that power outage.
Thus, she found a corner in the alleyway and sat down, promptly digging into her ill-gotten bounty. She would have liked to have gotten them heated up first, especially since the rice was kinda hard and chewy otherwise, but she more than okay to eat it as is. Considering it's rare that she's able to eat more than a couple riceballs, she wasn't about to be picky. Unfortunately, her meal wouldn't be a peaceful one. A man would soon approach her, the smell of cheap beer and lack of hygiene making his presence almost unbearable. Like...sure, her clothes were filthy and badly in need of washing, but at least she made a point of sneaking into the shower rooms at local gyms during hours when there was likely to be no one there. She might be homeless, but she still had her pride.
Unsurprisingly, this man was also homeless, and started demanding that she share some of her food with him. Not asking. Demanding. Had he asked nicely, she might have been willing to part with one of the bentos she'd taken. But his attitude pissed her off, and she was feeling rather petty. So she told him, rather eloquently, where he could shove his demands and promptly started to ignore him. That was when he made his mistake. Rather than taking the hint and leaving, instead lunged at the girl, intending to take her food by force. What he wasn't expecting was for her to grab him by the arm before he could do anything and pin him against the wall. On her own, she wasn't strong enough to actually hold him there, so she decided to teach him a lesson in manners.
Before he could break free, she lifted the guy's shirt and placed her hand right right over the man's ribs. His eyes widened as a sudden, excruciating pain shot through his side, causing him to start flailing frantically in an effort to get away. But she ignored the flailing and screams of agony, managing to keep her hand on his side for at least another minute or so. In a blind panic, he managed to push her away, and immediately fled as if his life was in danger. He'd be wrong, but he didn't need to know that. And it wasn't like the police were going to take the ranting of some homeless guy who reeked of booze and body odor seriously, so she wasn't worried about him ratting her out. Thus, assuming no one else had seen her, she slumped back against the wall and returned to her meal.
Her mood was more or less ruined, but hey...a meal is a meal.
