NAME: Luke Northcott
CODE NAME: Dynamo
ALIGNMENT: Vigilante
TITLE: N/A
AGE: 25
GENDER: Male (He/Him)
QUIRK NAME: PORCUPINE
QUIRK CLASSIFICATION: MUTANT
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Luke's quirk changes the structure of his body hair, to the point that it is much harder and the tips are sharper than your typical hair. The hair itself, is still flexible and soft to the touch, although one could easily prick themselves if they touch the tip. It is also incredibly durable, to the point where it cannot normally be cut off with scissors or knives. This hair could also be hardened even further during times of stress or when adrenaline is pumping through his body, to the point where it can be sharp enough to pierce titanium. Offensively, Luke can fire off these hair like miniature bullets to deal damage, the hair capable of piercing through the layers of skin and even to the bone while defensively, Luke is capable of using these hair to protect himself against blows.
QUIRK POWER LIMIT: Once he fires off his hair, he wouldn't be able to use them anymore, until his body regrows them. While he does regrow his body hair much faster than most people, it is never immediate and therefore he becomes useless in the immediate solution after he uses them. In addition, he can only fire his quirk off for mere minutes before he exhausts them all.
QUIRK TECHNICAL LIMIT: Unfortunately, the needle-like hair isn't something that makes his life easy. Due to the sharpness, the hair generally pricks holes in his clothes and can even make small tears. Because of this, Luke must have special clothing made so that he wouldn't tear them all to shreds. Currently, Luke isn't exactly precise when he fires off his hair, only able to do so in clusters rather than singular pieces. Because of this, he risks hurting others if he is trying to be on the defensive side. While the hair is able to withstand a lot of force, it is in the end hair and incredibly flammable. It can burn rather easily.
QUIRK FACTOR:
Power 2
Finesse 2
Stamina 1
Quirk Factor refers to the natural characteristics of a Quirk. Power refers to raw output potential of a Quirk. Finesse refers to innate control and manageability. Stamina refers to prolonged use and resistance to negative effects of their Quirk. You have five (5) points to distribute between these attributes. A Quirk might be powerful but lack of Finesse, or have a variety of uses but be exhausting. Eraser Head's Erasure could be 3/1/1, for example; he has a strong ability, but only the one application and a low usage limit. Consider your description and limits when assigning numbers here, as the Quirk Factor will inform all combat.
SUPER MOVE: DEATH OF A THOUSAND NEEDLES > During situations where things seem tough, Luke fires off all his body hair as a means of offense or to distract an opponent while he escapes.
COSTUME: Luke, after spending quite awhile learning how to do so from the local video website, has finally managed to make a homemade taser which allows him to deliver a quick shock to anybody that gets too close. While it isn't as powerful as most tasers today, it would be enough for him to create an opening for an attack or if he needed to distract an opponent to get away.
EXPERTISE:
Medical Knowledge: With Luke working to get his doctoral degree in medical school and his current internship with the hospitals here, he has an extensive knowledge on the human body and how to treat injuries that might be sustained.
FLAW:
Pyrophobia: Due to the fact that his quirk is useless against fire and due to several unpleasant experiences with them in the past, Luke has developed a crippling fear of fire.
APPEARANCE: There is nothing truly distinguishing about Luke at all. He looks like your average, 25 year old European man. He is neither tall nor short nor is particularly big or skinny either. Upon first sight he is just your average joe. Perhaps the most distinguished part of his features is his wild green hair which he generally allows to flow down his shoulders but otherwise he looks normal.
His general outfits consist of him wearing his favorite green jacket along with whatever clean shirts he might have in his closets, blue jeans and black sneakers. He wears glasses because he is short-sighted, although he does sometimes wear contacts if he needs to.
Luke simply switches his clothes to a hoodie with the sleeves ripped off, shorts and comfortable sneakers when going out to do his vigilante activities, to allow maximum exposure to use his quirk. To try and hide his face though, he generally simply wears a pair of sunglasses that he straps over his face to keep them from falling and pulls up the hood in his jacket. He often ties his hair up into a ponytail so that it wouldn't get in his way.
BACKGROUND: Luke had always been interested in heroes. It was the dream of every boy his age, and he especially had convinced himself that he would one day grow up to be an amazing one. His father was actually a pro-hero back in his home country of England who was known for his quirk. As his son, it seemed only natural that Luke would develop a similar quirk to him and be just as or maybe even more powerful than his old man right? But to his dismay, when he was four, he learned that this was not the case. That was the age where he learned for the first time that he was actually adopted and thus his dreams of being a hero began to fall apart.
This dream did continue on for many years, as Luke still had convinced himself that even with his quirk he could still be the hero he wanted to. His father supported him as well, even throwing in a recommendation into the hero school he had graduated from himself. Unfortunately, Luke was unable to pass the entrance exam due to the lack of control he had over his quirk at the time, and was told to instead focus on something else he was good at, like working to become a doctor. After hearing that, he was unfortunately forced to abandon his dream in favor of something more realistic, although his dream never truly disappeared.
And so Luke would study hard in the field of medicine, even managing to land a spot in Oxford back home where he studied and got his master's degree. But in the middle of his fourth year in the university, he learned something interesting that would re-spark his interest in his old hero dream. He was taking a hero sociology course as a requirement for his general education when he heard about the term vigilante. While Luke had heard the term before, he never truly understood what it meant. He understood that he would be just as good as a villain in the eyes of the law if he went down this path, but it was a way for him to achieve his dreams. But he knew that if he wished to chase this dream, he wouldn't be able to do it here, under the watchful eye of his father.
After he graduated Oxford, Luke would announce that he would be travelling abroad to Japan where he would be interning under the many hospitals there until he would finally be able to be recognized as a doctor. Ultimately he had chose Japan to study in because he felt like it was a major hero hot spot, far away enough from his father to where he wouldn't worry over him and ultimately had always been a place he was interested in living in. He would intern and study there, living in a small apartment nearby. While he did actually begin to work towards his career, Luke was also finally realizing his childhood dream to become a hero.
Even if the law didn't recognize him, Luke would still try his best to protect the world against villains.
