NAME: Hotsko Kashima
AGE: Seventeen
GENDER: Male
QUIRK NAME: IMMOLATION
QUIRK CLASSIFICATION: EMITTER
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Kashima’s pores constantly secrete a highly flammable mucus that coats his entire body. The tiniest spark can make his body go alight in brilliant flames, which the mucus also keeps him insulated from. This (mostly) inadvertent self-immolation essentially turns Kashima into a sentient flame. He is able to flick and sling the mucus off of his body(carrying flames with it) in a pseudo-pyrokinetic fashion to hurl fireballs at targets. The oxygenated mucus keeps the flames coating his body fed and burning hot.
QUIRK POWER LIMIT: Immolation lasts as long as there is flammable mucus on Kashima’s body to burn. As the secretion is involuntary, Kashima can’t necessarily control the flames on his body. The heat of the flames will generally completely burn off the mucus in 10 minutes and as the mucus is the only thing protecting Ruin from the flames he usually has to put the fire out before those 10 minutes are up or rush to find a way to extinguish them before risking his own well-being. After completely burning through the mucus Kashima needs roughly 17 hours before his body produces enough to be completely coated once more.
QUIRK FACTOR:
Power 3
Finesse 0
Stamina 2
Kashima can read people near perfectly, meaning he can assess their motives and intent with just a quick study of their movement and/or words. He prides himself on knowing people’s true character as he is an excellent judge and doesn’t fall for lies or manipulations easily, its a natural skepticism that works out well in his favor.
Strategy is the name of the game for Kashima. Existing in a culture that is so deeply rooted in hero worship he knows dismantling that perception and reality won’t be an easy task. He believes deeply in sowing seeds and making slow yet impactful strides against heroes of the world over grand gestures of destruction against them - though those methods to have their time and place.
FLAW: Kashima is extremely hotheaded (pun intended) and prideful, he looks for every chance to be a new opportunity to prove himself and can often slip up because of this combination of pride and wrath. This usually makes all forethought and strategy he may have taken into account go out of the window as his mind becomes less clear, thus making it easier for opponents to capitalize on his muddled thought processing. By being goaded into anger Ruin becomes sloppy and can overexert himself, this can even cause him to become absentminded of his time limit or otherwise overconfident that he can win before the time limit expires, placing himself in grave danger.
APPEARANCE: Kashima is a young man, somewhat short for his age, with a moderately athletic build and sharp facial features. He has jet black hair which is usually unkempt in a twisted style with the sides of his hair cut down lower with vertical cuts slashed throughout. His skin is darker than most as he is of African descent. Kashima possesses coal dark eyes behind rectangular rimmed glasses. His face is a perpetual grimace as he doesn’t appear to experience any emotion save for annoyance.
IMMOLATION
When in his immolated mode Ruin is completely surrounded by and engulfed in flames. The flames are so intense that usually his body just appears as a shadowy silhouetted appearance outlined by glowing red embers. In this form his bright teeth and pulsating red eyes are the only evidence of a face to be found. The flames that burn at his head also strangely burn in an odd spiral pattern just above the eyes.
BACKGROUND: Hotsko Kashima was only 6 years old when he was orphaned, left to live life alone in the world after his mother and father perished right before his eyes. But let’s rewind before that. His father was an African man from Dakar, Senegal who fell in love with a Japanese woman who possessed the strange meta ability to ignite objects, a Quirk. While Quirks were slowly sweeping the globe they were not so well received in Africa and as such Kashima’s parents became something of pariah. His father would end up moving from job in an effort to make ends meet. Before long the couple would have a son, and like his mother he would eventually develop a Quirk. Upon Kashima’s development and display of his quirk he immediately began to receive the same hostility that his mother had. The family of three then moved to his mother’s home country of Japan, as they did not wish to raise their son ostracized in Dakar simply for his particular genetics. In essentially a new country Kashima grew up poor, his mother worked several dead end jobs while his father moved on to get-rich-quick scheme after scheme. His father’s antics often strayed into the world of illegality all in an attempt to keep the family fed and sheltered, this often put Kashima’s family at odds with “justice”.
While most in the world, and especially Japan, saw those who pursued justice as Heroes, Kashima saw them as nothing but hostile oppressors. His father had boom embroiled in the world of petty criminality and often had to evade police and Heroes alike. Thus, there was no adequate positive portrayal of Quirks in Kashima’s life. He had only known that his own Quirk resulted in bigotry and hatred in Africa, and in Japan those with Quirks tried to pummel and arrest his father - a man who only turned to crime to feed his family, something the beloved “heroes” in Japan could never understand.
At some point his mother began aiding his father in his criminal exploits, Kashima doesn’t know who’s idea it was but between the two of his parents someone had decided that his mother’s Quirk would allow them to accomplish bigger goals and get bigger rewards. Sadly this attracted the attention of Pro Heroes looking to make names for themselves. In a skirmish with one of these Pro Heroes, Kashima’s parents were killed, a disastrous casualty of their own villainy - right in front of the young boy - but of course he could only see it as a Hero directly leading to the death of the only people whom he had loved.
His parents had died in a blaze brought on by his mother’s quirk, a quirk very similar to his own, and it irks him to this day. Kashima vowed to not let it cause him to reject his quirk though, he had been doing that since they left Africa and all it did was allow his parents to be killed. He thought, maybe if he had been better at using his own quirk he could have aided his parents and somehow prevented their deaths, its a guilt he’ll continue to live with and also use in his crusade to stomp out “justice”.
Kashima wishes to expose the so-called Heroes that society has chosen to worship as the fakes and oppressors they truly are. He has worked to shape both his mind and body to become weapons, while he acknowledges the limits of his Quirk, Kashima believes there is no limit to the capabilities of the mind and so he depends heavily on thought, planning, and manipulation.
CODE NAME: RUIN
ALIGNMENT: Villain
TITLE: None yetAGE: Seventeen
GENDER: Male
QUIRK NAME: IMMOLATION
QUIRK CLASSIFICATION: EMITTER
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Kashima’s pores constantly secrete a highly flammable mucus that coats his entire body. The tiniest spark can make his body go alight in brilliant flames, which the mucus also keeps him insulated from. This (mostly) inadvertent self-immolation essentially turns Kashima into a sentient flame. After completely burning through the mucus Kashima needs roughly 17 hours before his body produces enough to be completely coated once more.
QUIRK TECHNICAL LIMIT: Using Immolation makes Ruin dehydrated and he needs a lot of recovery after every use. He cannot control the temperature or intensity of the flames that cover his body, he is only the kindling of whatever ignites him (he usually carries a zippo lighter or box of matches). Water or ice users can easily put his flames out or anyone who can manipulate temperatures can do the same.
QUIRK BARRIER (Students ONLY): Kashima fears burning from his own quirk, he is deathly afraid of fire when not in his Immolated mode, and as such he keeps constant stock of his time limit careful to never exceed or even get too close to the 10 minute threshold.
QUIRK FACTOR:
Power 3
Finesse 0
Stamina 2
SUPER MOVE: SUNDER > Ruin musters up as much of the flammable mucus coating his skin into his hands as he can and pressing his palms together while holding them over his head he then swings them downward and flings the enflamed substance in the form of a fiery cleaver that can bust up city streets.
COSTUME: The costume is outfitted with several interior tubings that house a fire retardant. When Immolation is activated the costume can read the sudden jump in temperature and begin a countdown to retardant release, which will extinguish Ruin’s flames before he harms himself.
EXPERTISE:Kashima can read people near perfectly, meaning he can assess their motives and intent with just a quick study of their movement and/or words. He prides himself on knowing people’s true character as he is an excellent judge and doesn’t fall for lies or manipulations easily, its a natural skepticism that works out well in his favor.
