As Heroes, Villains, and Vigilantes win Incidents, they gain Stature in the mind of the public. This increase in fame or infamy affords them more money and resources, which in turn grants them the ability to upgrade or expand their Costumes and Expertise. Each tier of Stature unlocked allows you to add 1 function to your Costume or a new Expertise.
The descriptions below are general guides -- your story is always unique. Stature is described by geographical scope emanating from Musutafu, and is gained as follows:
Hero: If you're not the Number 1 Hero in the world by now, you're very close to it, and historians will debate for decades to come whether you should've be ranked even higher for your extraordinary acts. You're a living legend, but you've never forgotten your first duty -- to the people.
The descriptions below are general guides -- your story is always unique. Stature is described by geographical scope emanating from Musutafu, and is gained as follows:
NEIGHBORHOOD
0 Incidents won
Hero: You are just starting out as a new hero! You are known locally... very locally. Your mom is probably your biggest fan, and you don't have much of an income yet. With a little luck, your star will rise!
Vigilante: You have some scores to settle, and you aren't very particular about getting a license first. Nobody knows your name yet, but that's fine. They will soon.
Villains: You're bad, but not widely feared yet. Maybe you've been arrested once or twice, but the police have bigger fish to fry than you!
COMMUNITY
2 Incidents won
Hero: You've started to gain some traction, including your first newspaper or nightly news mention. Your paycheck has been bumped up to where you can afford more than instant noodles, and you have a budding fandom.
Vigilante: You've cleaned a few clocks, but there's a lot more still ticking out there. The cops don't like that you're working under the table, but screw them. You get the job done, and people are starting to notice.
Villains: Red and blue sirens don't scare you anymore -- and you give the police indigestion when they hear your name. You've squabbled with a pro hero or two and made it through, too.
CITYWIDE
4 Incidents won
Hero: You got a call from the Mayor after the last Incident, who has invited you to some kind of award ceremony. An overly-enthusiastic otaku may or may not be camping in your bushes. You can live comfortably off your paycheck now.
Vigilante: Maybe you've got a problem. You're now on the bad side of the local government, who has forced you out of your home and underground. But that's okay, you've got friends out there, and plenty of cash from very thankful locals.
Villain: You're one of the several promises the Mayor has just made in his bid for reelection. He's going lock you up (or so he thinks). The police have a procedure especially for you, and Heroes and Vigilantes are studying ways to best defeat you.
PREFECTURE
8 Incidents won
Hero: You're a real-deal pro hero now. You've put enough Villains away in Tartarus that you've just received funding for your first Hero Office. You've even got a personal secretary, and an official website! Villains think twice when you're around.
Vigilante: If you're not the edgy loner type, you've got a merry band of likeminded individuals, asking for your direction because you put lots of criminals away -- maybe in Tartarus, maybe in Hell just to be sure. You are becoming notorious, but in a good way.
Villain: Lots of people fear you, and for good reason. The police can't stop you, and neither can the Heroes. You've got a strong criminal enterprise, and a gang of underlings willing to die on your behalf. And they will, oh yes.
NATIONAL
16 Incidents won
Hero: You've become something of a franchise. You're on TV, your costume and action figure is sold in supermarkets, and you're raking in the big bucks. The Prime Minister of Japan has personally thanked you for your service, and has you on speed dial for emergencies.
Vigilante: You've become too big to jail. The Prime Minister has officially pardoned you for your (probably hundreds of) violations, and the police no longer even try to keep you in check. Other Heroes might be jealous and still try to wrangle you, but as long as you're squashing Villains, who cares?
Villain: You're in charge of one of the largest boryokudans in all of Japan, and even the Yamaguchi-gumi fear you. But you're not just some yakuza kingpin -- you've got a vision, one fueled by trillions of yen and an insatiable ambition. The Prime Minister has called for a national task force to reign you in.
WORLDWIDE
32 Incidents won
Hero: You're an international superstar. Talkshows, movie cameos, commercials, you're everywhere. Balancing stardom and herodom can be more challenging than fighting Villains, but you somehow still manage. You've got a worldwide following to make proud, and your message of hope inspires millions!
Vigilante: You've taken your Vigilante bit on the road, cleaning up messes across the globe. Other governments are starting to back down rather than block access, because they know you get the job done, no matter the cost.
Villain: You've gone global in your wicked schemes. Perhaps you're fighting for Quirk Liberation, or perhaps you're just in it for yourself, but other nations are starting to fret over you. You may have to watch out for stealth bombers when you step outside, but world leaders have to watch out for you, too.
LEGENDARY
64 Incidents won
Hero: If you're not the Number 1 Hero in the world by now, you're very close to it, and historians will debate for decades to come whether you should've be ranked even higher for your extraordinary acts. You're a living legend, but you've never forgotten your first duty -- to the people.
Vigilante: You're a controversial but renown figure, grudgingly respected for keeping the worst of the Villains out of society, even by those who don't approve of your methods. You're more feared than admired, but you never cared for adoration.
Villain: Your name strikes fear into even the most-seasoned Pro Hero. You're right up there with the Devil in terms of infamy. You've gripped the entire world in your darkness, and it will never be the same again.
