Kousuke let out a small grunt as his feet hit the ground, before he broke out into a full dash towards a series of tires laid out on the ground in a staggered formation. He'd already cleared the climbing wall, the balance beam, and the monkey bars. Ahead of himself, he had the tires, the mud-crawl, and a rope to swing from between two platforms. Then he would be finished with the open obstacle course... He didn't dare let himself smile, but he did feel a sense of satisfaction that he would probably beat his previous best time if he kept up at his current pace.
This small obstacle course was located at UA academy's Physical Education Grounds, though it wasn't used as much as the other facilities. Kousuke, however, had a fondness for it. He found it was a good way to train his body and quirk to help him round out his skills, especially since the USJ facility was far from the main buildings of campus. It also wasn't open for students to use in their off-time, like the PE grounds were.
As Kousuke made his way through the tires, carefully lifting his foot up and out of each of the rubber circles so as not to trip on the edges, he grunted and pushed himself just a bit harder. Even if he was the only one using the obstacle course, he felt the need to shave just a few more seconds off of his time. He needed to improve. To be faster. To be stronger. To be better than he was yesterday, and everyone around him. He had to be so. Otherwise, grandfather's men would-
He stumbled on the last of the tires, before clearing the obstacle. He grunted with annoyance, shook his head, and banished those thoughts that had begun to bubble up. Then he dashed toward the mud crawl. His eyes locked onto it, his body turned to face it completely, and he ignored the sounds of the clubs and other students exercising. There was only the mud crawl. Only the next challenge to overcome.
This attempt to focus only on what was ahead left Kousuke completely unaware that he was no longer alone on the course... And he would remain so until she passed him.
