NAME: Mikami, Nobu
AGE: 15
GENDER: Male
QUIRK NAME: LUMINANCE
QUIRK CLASSIFICATION: EMITTER
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: LUMINANCE gives Nobu the ability to manually create and move electron atoms throughout his body. With this, he can build up electricity and produce rays of light of varying sizes and brightness as if he were a flashlight; the maximum brightness being a little under 10,000 lumens (the equivalent to direct sunlight in the summertime). These rays only emit a small amount of heat, like if you were to touch a working light bulb. While the size solely depends on how much space is available on Nobu's body.
Though he's not too confident about his combat skills, in a fight Nobu normally uses quick flashes of light to upset the opponent's vision. By doing so, he can get in close and overwhelm whoever he is fighting. In addition, making contact with someone while emitting a ray, gives the person a minor electric shock.
QUIRK POWER LIMIT: When emitting a ray or rays of light, lactic acid begins to build up wherever he is emitting the light from as if he were exercising. Therefore, constantly emitting the rays can cause immense fatigue and stress on his body. Nobu can only keep a ray 'on' for up to 10 to 15 minutes before the strain is too much to bear. Though, when in a fight, he would be moving and be using up more energy which would only shorten the time he could keep a ray 'on'. Additionally, whenever he first uses his quirk, he gets a minor electric shock. Which, in the midst of battle, can be quite distracting or unpleasant.
QUIRK FACTOR:
Power x 1
Finesse x 3
Stamina x 1
FLAW: Kobu struggles with his self-confidence and self-worth daily. Because his quirk isn't as destructive or powerful as some other heroes, he feels that he won't make a good hero. In a battle when things aren't going his way, this leads to a lot of self-doubt and causes him to come close to giving up. However, he rarely shares this with most people as he feels they don't care or they'll agree with him being lesser.
APPEARANCE: Height: 5'6
BACKGROUND: The beginning of Kobu's life starts off quite sad. Shortly after his birth, his mother was killed while defending a group of civilians from a villain. Kobu's parents had been somewhat popular heroes and had always done everything together; therefore, his mother's passing took a large toll on his father. Enough so, that he completely gave up being a hero. So, for the first few years of his life, Kobu lived with his grandparents until his father was able to find another job and afford a house of his own.
Growing up with his grandparents wasn't all that bad. Kobu spent most of his time playing with their dog, watching koi fish in their backyard swim back and forth, and watching rain flow down the windows of their house -- life was so peaceful. Kobu, although frowned upon by his father, used to love watching videos of heroes and desperately wanting to be them. He'd put on his father's old costume and run around pretending he was a beloved hero that everyone aspired to be.
Every day he practiced using his quirk and by a young age, he had grown quite adept at using it. His entire family all had quirks related to electricity and light so he had a lot of things to base his quirk off of, though, none being from his father.
School was pretty easy for Kobu. He was passing all of his classes and had a supportive friend group. That is until he fell for someone. This person meant the world to him and he thought they felt the same way. They'd talk for hours and hours upon end and would do everything together. However, when he was rejected, he fell down a deep hole of self-doubt and depression. He felt as if he wasn't good enough for anyone so he distanced himself from school, then his friends and then his family. He figured if he didn't speak to people they wouldn't have a reason to dislike him.
His life had become just him and no one else. He wouldn't eat with his family and would instead cook for himself and spend the entire day in his room studying or watching videos of the heroes he was so jealous of because their lives seemed perfect.
However, this dream of wanting to be a hero slowly started to fade. He felt as if everyone didn't even need another hero in a lame costume fighting bad guys for fame and money. But, one day one of those villains decided to break into his grandparents' house. His father was at work and it was just him and his grandparents. Kobu heard gunshots coming from their bedroom followed by screams of agony. This was his moment to 'shine' and be the hero he had always wanted to be. But instead, he sat there, shaking in fear unable to move a muscle.
The police arrived but it was already too late. His grandparents had been killed and the villain had gotten away. When his father learned what had happened he was utterly disappointed in Kobu. Kobu had constantly told his father that he wanted to become a hero but when the moment finally came for him to be one, he did nothing.
A year passed and Kobu, although not as much as before, still wanted to become a hero. He needed to know that he was capable of helping people and that he was enough. So, he applied for U.A and much to his surprise, he got in.

QUIRK TECHNICAL LIMIT: QUIRK TECHNICAL LIMIT: In order to create and move electrons in his body, it requires some, though not too much, focus. So, if someone was to overwhelm him, he'd panic and struggle to determine whether he should use his quirk or simply counter-attack.
When emitting light, it comes out at its full brightness when it is just skin and if he's is at full energy. While he can still emit light through clothing, the light is dimmed.

QUIRK BARRIER (Students ONLY): In highly stressful and emotional situations, Nobu becomes panicked and struggles to focus on one spot to emit light from; strong emotions can also cause the rays to dim and flicker or be too bright and use up too much energy, having little to no use. Emitting more than five separate rays on different parts of the body is also a struggle for him as keeping them all active would require a lot of focus.
QUIRK FACTOR:
Power x 1
Finesse x 3
Stamina x 1
SUPER MOVE: Purifying Light > Focusing all of his energy into the center of his chest, Nobu rapidly circulates electricity throughout his entire body and releases it all at once, creating a blinding light around himself that swallows everything whole. However, this gives him a moderate shock and puts a strain on his entire body.
COSTUME: Kobu's costume consists of a silver chain necklace, a striped white collared shirt, white shorts, semi-clear boots, and grey fingerless gloves -- the mostly white outfit allowing light to pass through it with ease. The main function of his costume is that it consists of many mirrors used to magnify the light he emits. For example, his gloves have a bunch of tiny mirrors covering it. Which, he can use to focus the beams from his fingers into a much larger beam. Though, the only items of clothing with mirrors on them are his gloves, the bottom of his shirt, and the top of his shoes.
EXPERTISE: Psychology - Ever since he was young, Kobu could always tell when someone was upset or angry, or even in love. Though, he wasn't always 100% correct. His knack for telling people's emotions might not the most useful in combat, but, if his career in being a hero didn't work out, maybe he could become a therapist.FLAW: Kobu struggles with his self-confidence and self-worth daily.
